People think that the influence of money in politics is inextricable, and it's often said that "money is the
mother's milk of politics". My response is that after all this time - I think our Democracy has matured enough to
move onto to a new stage of life. Everyone has to ask themselves if this is the democracy you want or the one you
settle for.

Homeland Security
It is the responsibility of every member of Congress to ensure that the homes, businesses, and families of each of our
constituents are kept safe from foreign threats. In this time of increased instability the possibility for a terrorist
attack on a port, chemical plant, or nuclear power plant in New Jersey is on the rise. Sadly, our current administration
and its backers in congress, including Representative Frelinghuysen, have done nothing substantial to shore up our home
defenses.

Health Care
We spend more than all other countries on health care but on average we achieve poorer health outcomes. About 15%
(45 million) of our fellow citizens are uninsured, but in all other developed countries the percentage is zero or close
to zero. Here, health care is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy; in other countries it is unthinkable.

Economy
Over the past few decades, we seemed to have been lured into creating an ecomomic system that supports the idea that we’re
better off as a society when we have big winners and big losers. I think this is a dangerous trend. Many people have
pointed out that the gap between the “haves” and the “have-not-so-much” in our society is not sustainable in a democracy.
But while some believe it is solely the fault of the players involved, there needs to be some consideration with regard to
how we as a society shape the game toward economic fairness.

We cannot overstate how critical it is to ensure the future prosperity of America by strengthening our education system.
Currently, too few students get the quality education they need and fewer still get the chance to attend college. A society
is defined by it’s education system; how well it’s teachers are paid, the physical quality of schools, class size, and
affordability are all metrics we can use to grade the way we’ve handled teaching our young the necessary skills to succeed.
